Why Wienerberger clay blocks are a safe and economic choice

Building with clay blocks is cost efficient

Building with clay blocks is cost efficient in several ways: Clay blocks allow a quick and flexible construction of a massive building envelope – that saves both time and costs. Recent studies confirm, that clay block masonry is more economical, compared to timber frame and concrete structures, this is shown in the comparison on the left.

Especially when built in monolithic construction, without additional insulation, wind and weather, heat, frost and also insects are not able to damage the wall. As a result, hardly any repair and maintenance costs are incurred, the value of the building is very stable and energy costs can be reduced due to the high insulating properties of clay blocks by Wienerberger. This is why building a house with clay building materials is always a first class investment.

Durable and stable in value

Long lifespan

Buildings made of clay blocks are robust and stable and thus especially durable. With their lifespan of far more than hundred years, they last for generations to come. Brick buildings, which have survived the centuries, can be found all over the world.

Private homes and apartments built with clay blocks are an investment for generations. They combine healthy living comfort with a high-quality and durable building structure. These assets guarantee a high re-sale value even after many years.

Stable and safe houses

Houses built of massive clay building materials are particularly stable, safe and accept high loads. Owing to their mechanical strength and stability, buildings made with clay blocks not only withstand wind, weather, storms and snow, they also protect against extraordinary impacts such as avalanches, landslides and flooding.

Furthermore, clay blocks are incombustible because they already have been fired during production. Thus, brick walls prevent the spread of fire to other rooms or buildings. On top of that, they will not release toxic gases in case of fire.

Clay block masonry has higher compressive strength

Comparing masonry built with clay blocks to AAC blocks shows that clay block masonry has higher compressive strength with equal thermal conductivity and wall thickness.

For external load-bearing walls with equal thermal conductivity, the load beacring capacity of clay block masonry is 88% higher, which makes clay blocks the ideal building material for single family homes as well as multi storey buildings.
